Rabies Titering by the VVTA
VVTA is excited to offer rabies titers for veterinary professionals and other interested individuals every fall! Rabies titers are an important part of keeping yourself protected. We recommend all vaccinated individuals check their titer level at least every other year.
2026 Rabies Titer Event details:
Rabies titering is available to members and non-members! Results will be emailed directly to participants from the laboratory, and the VVTA does not see or maintain those records. Please ensure your email address is correct on the registration form.
- Member price: $95
- Non-Member: $125
Sample Handling Instruction:
Please read these instructions carefully to ensure your sample can be accepted for testing.
You must arrange to have your blood sample drawn by your own doctor, nurse, or other qualified healthcare professional. The VVTA will not be offering a blood draw clinic this year.
Please handle and prepare your sample carefully by following all instructions below.
Sample Collection & Preparation:
-
Samples should be drawn no earlier than September 17, 2026.
-
The sample must be less than 20 days old on October 7, 2026.
-
Draw at least 3 mL of whole blood.
-
Allow the blood to clot, then centrifuge the sample and pour off the serum into an empty, non-additive plastic vial.
-
Clearly label the vial with your FULL NAME and DATE OF BLOOD DRAW.
-
Freeze the serum immediately.
-
Wrap the vial in paper towels to help protect it during transport.
-
Place the vial in its own sealed Ziploc bag.
-
Place a copy of the required form in a separate Ziploc bag. Then place the bag containing the serum sample together with the bag containing the paperwork.
-
Keep the sample FROZEN during transport by placing in a cooler with ice packs and drop of off at one of the following locations:
